Everyone has seen the popular television series Seinfeld during it’s tenure on T.V., or has undoubtedly heard the quote “No soup for you!” repeated by one of their friends, co-workers, or family. It is a quote derived from the aptly-named “Soup Nazi”, a popular character in the hit sitcom Seinfeld. The Soup Nazi, also known as the Soupman, made the most delicious soup in Seinfeld’s New York City but was quite temperamental regarding the rules of his soup shop.

It turns out that the Soup Nazi isn’t a completely fictional character after all—his is named Al Yeganah, and he isn’t quite as temperamental as depicted on Seinfeld, there is no need to follow arcane rules in the soup line or risk embarrassing banishment through the words “No soup for you!”. Al Yeganah opened his original soup shop, Soup Kitchen International, in 1984 in New York City and still runs it personally today. Through his wonderful recipes, developed at Soup Kitchen International back more than two decades ago, Al Yeganah set the standard for delicious soups. Now there is an original Soupman: Mpls, with all of the same soups, ingredients, and services. The Twin Cities Original Soupman restaurant brings to Minneapolis the same delicious tastes and commitment to excellence that Soup Kitchen International brought to New York, and to Seinfeld! Hungry soup lovers all over Minnesota now have somewhere that they can satisfy their soup cravings!
